Well it’s February and the fishing has slowed down to nothing with all the rivers, small streams and small lakes frozen, unless you’re an ice fisherman. The cold blast of January has made it difficult for most anglers unless you go to Anna or larger waters you are at a time of year where you replenish your tackle by going to Jake’s Bait and Tackle. This is the time of year where we will have a few weeks to prepare for spring fishing in Virginia. The smallmouth and largemouth will be putting on the feed starting this month. Now is the time to change your lines sharpen your hooks clean and lubricate all your reels and to keep get you your plastic baits in the heat so they perform better when you use them. You definitely want to be prepared if you hook a giant bass and all your equipment performs as it should. Look for waters to possibly open up at the end of February into March and that’s when you need to get on the water weather permitting. Water temps will remain in the low 30’s to high 30’s most of the month once the water surface thaws enough then it’s time to fish. So remember get your tackle right now and be prepared when the water opens up. Go to Jake’s and get all your tackle and information on what’s happening on the water. Good luck hope to see ya on the water. Tight lines Lonnie Conner
